Chocolate Almond Butter Cookies with Sea Salt

My sister-in-law sent our family a care package from CO with some local goodies, including Justin's Chocolate Almond Butter!   I used the chocolate almond butter in a batch of cookies and was delighted to find a solution to my sweet and salty cravings and a protein packed after school snack for my kids.  Try them - they are addictive!

Chocolate Almond Butter Cookies with Sea Salt

(Adapted from Gwyneth Paltrow's Almond Butter Cookie Recipe)

1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup Justin's Chocolate Almond Butter
1 cup real maple syrup
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Sea salt for topping

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

Mix the flour, kosher salt and baking powder in one dish.  In a separate bowl combine the chocolate almond butter, maple syrup and vanilla.  Add the dry ingredients to the wet.  Form the cookies into small balls and set 2 inches apart on your parchment lined baking trays.  Wet your fingers with water and gently smooth the cookies into little round discs.  Sprinkle each cookie with sea salt.

Bake the cookies 10-12 minutes.  Cool on a baking rack before eating.

Note: These cookies would make great homemade ice cream sandwiches.  Just add vanilla ice cream between two cookies and stick them back in the freezer until the ice cream is set.  Yum!

Saturday Morning Laugh

It's a blueberries stuffed in a spiral notebook kind of morning.  I found this while cleaning up after my kids' breakfast and had to laugh!

Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy Birthday Hitchcock!

My husband and I are huge Alfred Hitchcock fans, and today just happens to be his birthday!  I thought it was a good excuse to have a Hitch movie marathon with some homemade truffle butter popcorn and my favorite champagne to celebrate!

If you didn't opt to take film class in school and don't have the scoop on why Alfred Hitchcock's films are so cool, then pick up a copy of Hitchcock's Style.  The old fashioned thrills and intense suspense are great, but we all know our eyes are really on Hitch's leading ladies and their killer wardrobes!

What are your favorite Hitchcock movies?  Let's discuss...

These are my faves...

Vertigo
Rear Window
The Birds
Rebecca
North By Northwest

Truffle Popcorn and Champagne

Pop one bag of your favorite popcorn (no salt or butter added).  Melt 3 tablespoons of butter and 1 teaspoon of truffle oil.  Drizzle over popcorn, toss and add salt to taste.

Pour the bubbly.  Gloria Ferrer's Brut Rose' is my current favorite!

An Antique Fox Hunt

My husband and I just celebrated our 8th anniversary at my family's lake house.  We spent the days cooking, reading, playing the guitar and antiquing.  My husband doesn't exactly like antiquing, but he is a patient man and has a lot of experience waiting around while I shop!

On to my findings...

I found a sweet bed side table for my son's room for $18.  A set of 12 blue plates with a lion and fox design for $55. And last but not least the most adorable fox string dispenser, unfortunately not for sale.  I'm so bummed that the find of a lifetime (I'm obsessed with foxes) was not something I could take home.  Lucky for me their is Etsy, eBay and lots of places to find it online!

Go check them out, but please save one for me!
